Drop Off Specifics
DAY 1: Please try to arrive 15 minutes early so we have time to get each girl cared for and camp started on time.
Parking is expected to be a bit harder this year because of construction on site. If you so choose, you can park in the Shiley lot, Main lot or in the small lot near Shiley, as noted on map, then walk to registration and sign your child in at the registration table ( near drop off point on map marked in yellow) and then walk her into camp. Alternatively, you may drop her off at registration and let us walk her into camp. Please choose whatever option will make your camper the most comfortable. Please see maps for optional parking. We do anticipate quickly running out of spots in the closer lots.
DAYS 2 - 5: Feel free to drop your camper off at the the drop off point (marked in yellow on map). You will need to sign in your camper with the camp counselor there.
NOTE: We will be using an app called Kinderlime to facilitate the sign-in/sign-out process and you will require a 4-digit PIN to drop off and pick up a child from camp. This PIN will be emailed to you prior to camp. It is not necessary for you to download the app as you just need the PIN, however if you would like updates on your child's camp day we will be posting some to the app.
Each person in charge of picking up your child will need a PIN. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are having difficulty acquiring a PIN for a second person. This is for the safety of your child. If someone named Bill signs in with the PIN for Angela, we will not let Bill take your child home. Please understand that this is for your child’s safety, but can feel like a hassle at the moment. You must a separate PIN for each person picking up your child.
If you need help with the Kinderlime site or app please visit https://help.kinderlime.com/parents-help-articles.
PICK UP SPECIFICS
You can pick your child up at the same spot where you dropped her off. We will be nearby with all the girls, but not right there (because it is a parking lot) so anticipate about one to two minutes of wait time between giving us your child’s name and her arrival at your vehicle. You will need to sign your camper out using the Kinderlime PIN with the counselor at the curb.
Girls Build will provide breakfast and lunch daily through the University of Portland cafeteria. Girls will have access to at least three different options per meal, and we are confident she will be able to find something to suit her preferences and needs.
WHAT TO WEAR
Participants MUST wear:
Short or pants (skirts and dresses are welcome but may hinder her ability to fully participate)
Shirts with sleeves (not necessarily long-sleeves, just no tank tops).
We will do our best to keep your child in the shade during hot weather, and take extra precautions if the weather reaches higher temps, such as extra breaks and shade time, water intake monitoring and optional water play.
If you registered under "scholarship", you need to complete the scholarship application sent to you in your confirmation email. Once that is completed, Girls Build can inform you of your scholarship award.
If you need to pay for a partial scholarship, go to http://girlsbuild.org/summercamp-register/paying-for-partial-scholarship
All parents must fill out our release forms prior to camp. If you have not done so, please click here to complete and sign the forms.
NOTE: Your child's participation in the workshops might be different than the order noted here and the schedule is subject to change.
